Chiapas amber pendant with two insects, a fly and a winged ant, wrapped in macrame.
This piece captures a real moment from the past: a hunter fly and a flying ant were trapped together in the resin, creating a unique scene from the ancient ecosystem.
Main insect: 🪰 Robber fly (family Asilidae)
Also known as "assassin flies"
Very characteristic features are visible:
- Elongated and robust body
- Long legs with spines (for catching prey)
- Relatively large head
- "Aggressive" appearance (typical of predators)
- Wings folded over the body

These flies were:
