Red amber is a rarer variety of amber. Its reddish hue is due to prolonged exposure to oxidation, which creates iron salts on its surface; it may also have been exposed to sunlight or forest fires. This reddish color makes it highly prized and elegant.

Amber is a resin exuded by the pores of a tree called 'Guapinol' in Simojovel, Chiapas.

The amber found deep underground in Simojovel is believed to be between 20 and 25 million years old.

When a tree breaks one of its branches, or receives a wound caused by an insect or animal, it exudes resin to cover that wound and prevent the spread of fungi and pathogens.

Because the resin is sticky, insects or pieces of branches can become trapped. When exposed to sunlight, the resin hardens and solidifies in a fossilization process that can take thousands to millions of years.

Today, miners descend into very deep caves where they extract raw amber, which is then polished with sandpaper until it gives us the beauty and characteristic color of amber.

Symbolically, red amber represents passion, strength, vitality, protection against negative energies, transformation, purification, etc.

Polish every 15 days or once a month to maintain the brass's golden shine. Use white or yellow Dialux polishing paste and a microfiber or denim cloth. Brasso Liquid can also be used.
